“We are really excited to have him here,” said Debra Franco, owner of the studio at 3420 Wisconsin Ave. “He will touch on the truth about being a performer and what types of things agents are looking for.”

Sklar has a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and has worked with celebrities such as Sara Jessica Parker of HBO’s “Sex and the City,” Zachery Ty Bryan of “Home Improvement” and Reese Witherspoon, star of movies such as “Legally Blonde” and “Walk the Line.”

“Everything I have read from him is very motivational for students and young people starting out in the entertainment business,” said Franco. “He gives them a direction in what they are looking for.”

After the lecture, Sklar will hold a short audition for a New York-based musical he is producing called “The Kid Who Played the Palace.” The musical is set in 1982 in New York and is about a former Vaudeville star.

The lecture is free and open to ages 6 and older. Those younger than 18 must bring a parent or legal guardian. Do not bring resumes or head shots.
