Claire L. Williams died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 82.
Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Roy E. Lanier and Ione Ellison Lanier. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Culkin Academy. She received her registered nurse degree from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing and served in the Vicksburg area for over 50 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha W. Cochran, and her husband, Tom, of Tallulah; two grandsons, Conan Signa and his wife, Allyson, of Decatur, Ala., and Kyle Signa of Vicksburg; two great-grandchildren, Allie and Ella; and four sisters-in-law, Sue Lanier of Shreveport and Louise Williams, Annie Williams and Betty Williams, all of Vicksburg.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy L. Lanier Jr. and Nacy N. Lanier.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Billie Abraham, rector of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service. Memorials may be made to favorite charities.
Pallbearers will be Steve Williams, Clarence Lanier, Rusty Garner and Joe Greer. Honorary pallbearers will be William Yerger and Dr. Walter Johnston.
