City man held in cleaners burglary

A Vicksburg man was in the Issaquena County Jail this morning for the burglary at the Cherry Street cleaners reported March 10.

William Jefferson, 22, 2518 Franklin St., was arrested at an apartment on South Street at 12:58 p.m. Friday and charged with the business burglary of Turning Heads Cleaners, 1514-C Cherry St., said Sgt. Sandra Williams.

None of the money reported missing from the stolen cash register was recovered, said Williams. The cash register was found behind the building during the initial investigation.

Jefferson was held without bond this morning.

City man held for drug court

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for a drug court sanction.

Albert Walker, 37, 1300 Freetown Road, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Saturday and was being held without bond.

Separately, a Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail for violating a drug court probation.

Joseph Nash, 21, 209 West Drive, was arrested at 3 a.m. Saturday and held without bond, jail records said.

Gun, books, purse missing from cars

Four auto burglaries were reported in the city during the weekend.

• A Pioneer CD player, value unknown, was reported missing at 7:19 a.m. Saturday from a 1999 Chevy Prizm at Shady Lawn Nursing Home, 60 Shady Lawn Place.

• A CD player valued at $169 and seven library books were reported missing at 8:18 a.m. Saturday from a 1992 Ford Taurus in the 1200 block of Main Street.

• A black purse containing personal items and $500 was reported missing at 9:52 a.m. Saturday from a 1998 Toyota Camry at Big Lots, 1800 S. Frontage Road.

• A 22-caliber Ruger handgun and two gun magazines were reported missing on Saturday from the parking lot of Cracker Barrel restaurant, 4001 S. Frontage Road.

Pizzas, bread taken from delivery man

A theft was reported in the county on Saturday.

Five supreme pizzas and two cheesy breads valued at $48.58 were reported stolen from a Dominoes Pizza delivery man while making his delivery in the 200 block of Overlook Drive.
