Tallulah Academy assistant coach John Weaver took over as football coach on Thursday.

Weaver replaces Doug Branning, who will take over as Porters Chapel headmaster starting next year.

“It’s really bittersweet,” Weaver said. “Doug was like a brother to me and learning from him prepared me for this endeavor. He taught me the ins and outs of managing a team.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity.”

The Trojans went 7-5 last season and lost to PCA in the first round of the MPSA Class A playoffs.
