Vicksburg police officer Kyle Christian checks inside what turned out to be a stolen 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage that crashed into the guard rails Thursday near the MV Mississippi on Washington Street. The driver fled after Officer William Gordon attempted to stop the car on North Washington at 8:32 p.m. for improper equipment. After the crash, the driver climbed out of the passenger-side window and ran, witnesses said. After police contacted the owner, she said she had not known the car had been stolen. No arrest was made.
