A fire gutted a home at 1519 Grove St. Friday night, but caused no injuries. The Vicksburg Fire Department responded to the call at about 7:45, and had the fire under control in about 20 minutes, Battalion Chief Donell Wince said.

“The lady who was in the house said she woke up and the bed was on fire,” said Wince, who added the investigation was ongoing.

Fire and smoke caused extensive damage to more than half of the home, Wince said.

Vicksburg Police Officer Chris Tankesly said Lisa Parker identified herself as the only person in the home when the fire started. Tankesly said the home is owned by Jim Hobson.
