LIMA, Ohio — Larnie Mae Reed died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Lima Memorial Health Systems. She was 83.
Mrs. Reed was born in Vicksburg to Joseph and Lydia Granton Crayton. She was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Meeks and Wilson Reed; eight siblings, Pinkie Griffin, Rebecca Wells, Agnes Jones, Idell Crayton, Bertha Mae White, Della Kelly, Steve Crayton and Roosevelt Crayton; three children, JoAnn Smith, Rita English and Richard Reed; a stepdaughter, Carol Hodges; two grandchildren; Gregory McDuffie and Emanuel McDuffie; and a stepgrandchild, Johnnie Hodges.
She is survived by six children, Livilane McDuffie, Kathryn Jackson, Darlene Wright, Melvin Meeks and Lee Meeks, all of Lima, and Ray Meeks of Sanford, Fla.; two stepchildren, Gail Reed of Detroit and Wilson Reed Jr., both of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Joseph Crayton Jr. of St. Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church, 1251 S. Union St., with the Rev. Arnold Manley officiating. Burial will follow at Shawnee Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the church with family present from 6 until 8.
