SIKESTON, Mo. — George Smith Jr. died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo. He was 94.

Mr. Smith was born in Edwards to George Sr. and Anna Riser Smith. He was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church in Edwards and retired from Anderson-Tully in Vicksburg before moving to Sikeston in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Bell Elmore; and one son.

Survivors include two daughters, Goletha Longstreet of Sikeston and Doretha Means of Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sikeston with the Rev. L.J. Nabors officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service.
