This and that|Chamber Music Fest kicks off April 17

Four Seasons of the Arts will present the Vicksburg Chamber Music Festival April 17, 19, 24 and 26.
The festival will feature concerts and performances from a variety of musical genres. The schedule:
* April 17 — 7 p.m., Southern Cultural Heritage Center; Mississippi Arts Ensemble and pianists Theresa Sanchez and David O’Steen.
* April 19 — 5 p.m., Crawford Street United Methodist Church; pianist Zsolt Bognar.
* April 24 — 6 p.m., The Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal; singer Kallen Esperian.
* April 26 — 5 p.m., Mary Hardwood Home, 600 Fort Hill Drive; Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.
Gardening lecture on SCHC schedule
The Southern Cultural Heritage Center will pre-sent “Problem Solving Gardening,” a lecture, at 5:30 p.m. May 4.
Rob Mendrop of Dreamscape Designs in Edwards will offer the dos and don’ts of planting, pruning, plant selection and care. A question-and-answer segment will follow.

Book-signings set at downtown store
Lorelei Books will host authors Gayden Metcalfe and Barry Mazon for two book-signings in May.
Metcalfe will sign “Some Day You’ll Thank Me For This: The Official Southern Ladies’ Guide to Being a ‘Perfect’ Mother” at noon May 6.
Mazon will sign “Meeting Jimmie Rodgers: How America’s Original Roots Music Hero Changed the Pop Sounds of a Century” at 4 p.m. May 13.

Master Gardeners schedule plant sale
The Madison County Master Gardeners will host a plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon April 25.
The event will be in the parking lot of the Madison Civic Center, at U.S. 51 and Mississippi 463.

Why Birds Blush title of JAS lecture
The Jackson Audubon Society will hold its monthly chapter meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 28 at the Clinton Community Nature Center, 617 Dunton Road.
JAS past president Steve Peterson will deliver a lecture called “Why Birds Blush: Coloration and Communication.” Admission is free.
