Cleon J. Arnold

NEWELLTON — Cleon J. Arnold died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Ala. He was 89.

Mr. Arnold was born in Mississippi and had lived in Newellton for 41 years. He was a retired grocer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Tallulah. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his son, Steven E. Arnold of Montgomery; one brother, Buddy Arnold of Newellton; two sisters, Annie Bess Taylor of New Iberia, La., and Mary Ida Spencer of Medford. Ore.; and two grandsons.

Services were at 11 today at the First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial followed at Legion Cemetery in Newellton with Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in charge.
