Vikings finish third at East Miss. Classic|Track and field

Joe Harris won the shot put, Eric Williston won the pole vault, and Warren Central finished third in the team standings at the East Mississippi Track Classic in Meridian on Saturday.

Meridian won the meet, followed by Noxubee County, WC, Northeast Lauderdale and Columbus. A total of 13 teams competed in the meet.

Harris’ throw of 44 feet, 5 inches was good enough to win the shot put competition, while Williston won with a vault of 11 feet, 6 inches. Teammate Chase Lungrin was second in the pole vault.

Other WC standouts included Jarrelle Pedyfoot, who was second in the discus, and Deandrea Smith, who was second in the 300 meter hurdles.

WC will run in the division meet on Tuesday at Clinton High.
