Bond was set Monday for two men arrested at the scene of the fatal shooting Sunday.
Adam Rader, 25, 103 Cross Drive, was held on $150,000 bond after being charged with murder in the city’s second homicide of 2009.
Derrick Turner, 25, 401 Pleasant Valley Drive, was held on $75,000 bond for accessory after the fact. A third man, Eric Turner, 26, brother of Derrick, was held on $50,000 for assault on a police officer at the scene.
Police responded at 7:18 p.m. and said multiple shots were fired following a fight over a bottle of whiskey among several people gathered at a home in the 1400 block of Oakland Street, near Baldwin Ferry Road and Court Street. One bullet hit Danny Miller, 25, 107 Belva Drive, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Miller, who worked for a local landscaping company, had attended Vicksburg High School, said Miller’s younger sister, Teretha.
“He was loving,” Miller said. “He just worked, went home, worked, went home.”
Miller said the gathering was a birthday party for the younger Turner. She confirmed that the fight was over a bottle of Crown Royal, adding Rader fought with her brother because the bottle was missing.
Danny Miller’s funeral will be under the direction of Williams Funeral Service.
In March, three teens were arrested on charges stemming from the shooting death of Antonio Turner, 25, on Alcorn Drive. Police suspect gang-related activity in that case.
