Bovina
* Andrea Bonelli’s third- and fourth-grade GATES classes toured the dredge Jadwin and the vessel William James at the harbor, led by Alice Bufkin of the Corps of Engineers. The classes also toured the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Bottling Museum, led by Nancy Bell. Chaperones were Jeanette Calvin, Alisa Harvey, Jan Greer, L.D. Gibson and Russell Standish.
* Teresa Mosley presented a seminar on emotional and social needs of the gifted to counselors and GATES teachers.
* Top Accelerated Readers for the week were Ashley Vail, Jessica Williams, Cameron Busby and Jagger Weekly.
* Denise Poe’s first-graders dyed eggs and participated in an egg hunt. Parent volunteers were Dixie Redditt, Mandy Weekly, Patrick Busby, Joy Solomon, Toni Dickens Blunt, Stephanie Boler, Alecia Harrison, Tracy Slogis, Janell Bracey and Beth Heggins.
Bowmar
* Florence Njiti’s first-graders made bunny biscuits, dyed eggs and hunted for eggs.
* Kindergarten classes of Cassandra Terry and Michele Sibley participated in an egg hunt. Terry’s students made Easter cards for parents, and Sibley’s students made butter and had an Easter party.
* First- and second-graders sponsored an “Egg-Cellent Egg Sale,” raising $1,033.60 for Relay for Life. Jacob’s Ladder
* Students gathered bulletins at The Church of the Holy Trinity. They dusted books and shelves at the public library. They visited Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church, where they watched the marking of chocolate eggs.
* Students ate lunch at Subway, where they ordered independently and chose healthy meals. They selected flowers at Home Depot and purchased dirt at Faulk’s Farm & Garden.
* Matthew Grogan and John Brooks planted climbing roses along the arbor and fence.
* Results for the swimming relays held during Special Olympics practice were as follows: Matthew Grogan, first place in 25-meter back, first place in relay and first place in 50-meter freestyle; Robin Smith, first place in 25-meter floatation and first place in 25-meter freestyle; and Misty Grantham, first place in 25-meter back, first place in relay and first place in 50-meter freestyle.
Redwood

* Cheryl Ricks’ kindergartners read “Beatrix Potter“ and bunny stories, dyed eggs, had an egg hunt and ate bunny cake. The class studied community helpers, and students chose careers. They also earned “parts” to a banana split for good behavior, then made ice-cream treats.
* After reading “Cocoa Ice,” Morgan Abraham’s students made ice cream.
* Sally Owen’s kindergartners made large chickens with handprint wings. They also painted large paper eggs using colored condensed milk.

* The school will host Relay for Life April 24-25. Students raised $423 in an Easter contest to see which teacher received the most eggs. Nancy Robertson, winner, wore a bunny suit.
* A group of WCHS students read to Sherman Avenue Elementary students as part of Fundamental Day on Thursday.
* Chrissy Brewer’s Mississippi Studies students with an 80 or above average toured historical sites in Natchez.
* Choices Club members who attended the “Living on the Lake” conference in Columbus were Loretta Passman, LaMarshall Davis, Christian Mixon, OunJaniese Roper, Dominique Washington, Dominique Williams, Alicia Weathersby, Brooke Williams, Aleah Lick, Paige Boyette and Bernisha Williams. * Christy Bracey provided Friday surprises for LaToya M. Lott’s sixth-grade class.
* Students and faculty members raised almost $400 and participated in a Blue Jean Day fundraiser to benefit the Parker family, house fire victims.
* Linda Tolliver’s GATES 4-6 students made and filled Easter eggs, which were donated to Barbara Tolliver at the United Way for presentation to Haven House.
Warrenton

* Grades K-3 participated in the “Reading Is Egg-Citing” RIF book distribution activities. Students read to others in various classes, and each student received a book of his or her choice. RIF, coordinated by Ida Allen, is partially funded through the PTO.
