A week from today, at 4 p.m., Horizon Casino Hotel will kick off its sixth annual Craw-Cat Festival in the casino parking lot.

An admission fee of $20 includes an outdoor performance from blues and Southern soul artist O.B. Buchana and all-you-can-eat crawfish, catfish and all the fixings from Goldie’s Trail Bar-B-Q. Guests must be 21 to attend.

“This event will give people the opportunity to enjoy downtown Vicksburg and see what it has to offer,” said Richard Glisson, Horizon spokesman.

A Mound Bayou native, Buchana will headline the festival and DJ REO will entertain the crowd throughout the night.

Buchana’s recording career began with his single “Back Up Lover” in the early 1990s. He is also known for “Let’s Get Drunk” and “I Can’t Choose.” Buchana’s latest record, “Southern Soul Country Boy” was released in 2008 and features “You’re Just Playin’ With It.”

After the party outside wraps up, The Crossroads will perform at Horizon’s Mulberry Lounge. The regional band plays rock, blues, jazz, swing and soul. Tickets are $10 and include a free beverage and $5 in free casino slot play.

Last year’s Craw-Cat festival drew about 700 people.
