Beard to wed Birdsong

The engagement of Shelby Ann Beard to Andrew Blake Birdsong, both of Vicksburg, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 4 p.m. June 6, 2009, at Refuge Church, formerly Vicksburg Church of God. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center at the church.
Miss Beard is the daughter of Regina and David Foster and Melvin and Lynn Beard, all of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Beard and Ann McElhenney, all of Vicksburg; John McElhenney of Edwards; and Jeanette and Leon McCurly of Gilbert La.
Mr. Birdsong is the son of Terry Holman of Vicksburg and Walter Birdsong of Jackson. He is the grandson of James W. and Betty Hearn of Mountain View, Ark.; the late Helen Hearn; the late Roger Birdsong and Linda Birdsong of Raymond; and Judy Smith of Alabama.
The bride-elect is a 2009 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she is a member of the Big Blue Band, Color Guard and Choices.
She will pursue a nursing degree in the fall.
Miss Beard is employed at Kids’ Cottage daycare.
The prospective groom is a 2007 graduate of Warren Central High School. He attended Hinds Community College.
Mr. Birdsong is in the U.S. Air Force.
