Doris Knight Maraman

CALICO ROCK, Ark. —  Doris Knight Maraman died April 20, 2009, at the Calico Rock Hospital in Calico Rock, Ark. Born Oct. 21, 1930, she was 78 years old.

Mrs. Maraman obtained a degree in fashion merchandising from Ray-Vogue College of Design in Chicago in 1950. She was also an accomplished musician and played the piano and organ for various churches, including Hawkins United Methodist Church in Vicksburg and Spring River Presbyterian in Hardy, Ark., and was the accompanist for “Gold in the Hills” in Vicksburg for many years. Her musical talent was a gift that touched the hearts of many.

Mrs. Maraman was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Maraman; a brother, Robert E. Knight; and her parents, Ernest M. Knight and Lucille H. Knight.

She is survived by one son, Robert Alan Maraman and his wife, Linda Watson Maraman; a daughter, Lisa Dabney and her husband, the Rev. L. Bryan Dabney III; and three grandchildren, Rebecca Alison Maraman, Jeffrey Alan Maraman and Thomas Bryan Dabney.

A memorial service will be held in Hardy at a later date.
