James C. Hamilton Jr.

James C. “Jimmy” Hamilton Jr. died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at his residence.

Born in Vicksburg June 17, 1931, he was the son of the late James C. Hamilton Sr. and Lula Owens Hamilton. He was a graduate of Carr Central High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was past president of the Vicksburg Board of Realtors, the Jaycees and the Mississippi Home Builders Association.

Mr. Hamilton had been a licensed Realtor since 1967 and a builder and commercial developer since the early 1960s. He received the MAI designation through the Appraisal Institute and was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jane A. Hamilton of Vicksburg; six sons, James C. Hamilton III and his wife, Seyhee, of Teagu, South Korea, Mark Hamilton and his wife, Barbara, of Vicksburg, Richard Hamilton of Olmstead, Fla., David Hamilton of Edwards, Ben Hill of Vicksburg and Lee Hill of Mississippi State, Miss.; two daughters, Drusilla Luckett of Clinton and Denise Hamilton of New Albany, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Peyton.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bowmar Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry White and Mark Rowlen officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
