Ameristar Casino employees, from left, Connie Shelvy, Lori Burke, Cheryl Roland and LaTonia Lush paint the exterior of the old O’Beirne Gymnasium Tuesday at Clay and Adams streets that is now part of the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. A dozen volunteers from the casino and St. Aloysius High and St. Francis Xavier Elementary schools joined forces with Keep Vicksburg-Warren Beautiful to clean flower beds, scrub exterior walls and paint. “The wall is the first thing people see coming down the street,” said SCHC director Annette Kirklin. “We want to beautify what we can.” The group’s earlier projects included work at Jacob’s Ladder and the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library.
