Vicksburg beat visiting Lafayette County 4-3 Thursday to advance to the next round of the Class 4A playoffs, where the Gators will face Oxford on May 1 at home.

Winners for the Gators were: Donald Brown (6-0, 6-1) in No. 1 boys singles; Christine Figueroa (6-0, 6-0) in No. 1 girls singles; the No. 1 girls doubles tandem of Catherine and Charlene Figueroa (6-0, 6-0); and the mixed doubles pair of Perry Tolliver and Grace Ga-as (6-2, 4-6 and 10-6 in the tiebreaker set).

Six Gators have already qualified for a chance at individual state titles, while the Gator team needs only a win over Oxford to advance to the state finals May 4 in Ridgeland.
