Pittman, Harper exchange vows March 7

Paul Hardy Pittman Jr. and Jamie Elizabeth Harper were married at 2 p.m. March 7, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg. Dr. Douglas Matthew Buckles officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Harper of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Eldridge Harper of Brinkley, Ark., and the late Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Standefer of Raymond.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ray Boyd and Mr. Paul Hardy Pittman Sr. He is the grandson of Margaret Pittman and the late Nuit Pittman and Maudelle Hoover and the late R.J. Hoover, all of Winona.

A prelude of nuptial music was presented by Denice Poe, pianist; Mary Claire Allison, flutist; and Allen Harris, soloist.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and carried a handkerchief that had belonged to her maternal grandmother.

Maid of honor was Kimberly Diane Thomas of Hattiesburg. Bridesmaids were Daphne Lumpkin Harper of Petal; Mary Margaret Pittman of Winona; Allison Dawn Sims of Madison; and Jennifer Louise Klein of Jacksonville, Ala.

Honorary bridesmaids were Daelyn Malyssa Harper of Petal and Ashley Nicole Armstrong of Brandon.

Paul Hardy Pittman Sr. of Winona served as best man. Groomsmen were Daryl Mason Harper of Petal; Joseph Stephen Bodnar III of Canton; and Terry Gerrard Brown Jr. and Charles Matthew Collins, both of Starkville.

Ushers were Jonathan David Wood of Water Valley and William Brian Parrish of Plano, Texas.

Program attendants were Joy Ingram and Sherra Slaughter, both of Madison.

Special wedding assistant was Lori Flanagan of Vicksburg.

The bride’s parents hosted a reception in the ballroom at The Vicksburg.

Guests were entertained with music by DJ Shontrell Jasper.

The bride is in electronic files management at Fox Everett Insurance in Madison, and the groom is in fire watch at Ergon Inc. in Vicksburg.

Breakfast

A wedding day breakfast for the wedding party and out-of-town guests was held at the home of Dennis and Donna Markle. Assisting in hosting were Yvonne and J.W. Carter, Maurice and Durwood Tadlock, and Janet and Gary Yelverton.

Rehearsal dinner

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Anchuca. The bride and groom chose this time to present gifts to the bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Bachelorette party

A bachelorette party/lingerie shower honoring the bride was given by the maid of honor in Jackson.

Mexican party

The bride and groom were honored with a Mexican-themed party in Winona. Hostesses were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bourne, Mr. and Mrs. George Harris, Cindy Dulin, Karen Willingham, Dr. and Mrs. Denny Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Kelly, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ellsworth.

Showers

The bride and groom were honored with a couple’s shower by the women of First Presbyterian Church in Winona. Hostesses included Carol Bailey, Beth Blakely, Debbie Rigby, Heather Rodgers, Debbie Brown, Mrs. Harold Richardson and Suzanne Muir.

The bride was honored with a miscellaneous shower at First Baptist Church. Hostesses were Kay Chaney, Teresa Chaney, Lori Edney, Debbie Freeman, Karen Godfrey, Janet Holland, Sharon Karel, Beckie Kerut, Susan McKinnie, Rita Mendrop, Carol Ann Oakman, Denice Poe, Rita Pugh, Gwen Robertson, Linda Strong, Georganne Swillie and Kathie Taylor.

The bride was honored with a wedding shower at the home of Lynn Clark in Madison. Hostesses were Jane Boothe, Caren Brister, Gretchen Davis, Marilyn Dedeaux, Vickie Gerrard, Jan Gilbert, Debbie Ingram, Lillian Kraft, Sherrye Matthews, Mary Miller, Vicki Watson and Susan Wilbanks.

Toby Burnette, Kay Lee, Candace Logue and Shellie Matthews hosted a miscellaneous shower at First Baptist Church.
