NEWELLTON — Avis Terral Whitaker died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Tensas Care and Rehab Center. She was 94.

Mrs. Whitaker was born in Goldonna, La., and had lived in Newellton most of her life. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Lee Dell Briery and Bettie Roberson, both of Newellton, and Susan Johnson of Flowood; one brother, Bill Terral of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Bonnie Bensberg of Camden, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Legion Cemetery in Newellton with the Revs. J. Fulton McGraw and Dennis Campbell officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
