CLINTON — The Mississippi High School Activities Association announced Friday it has no plans to suspend athletic competitions in Mississippi because of concern about the spread of swine flu.
State associations in Texas, Arizona and Alabama have suspended competitions because of the flu.
“We will do everything necessary to protect the health and safety of our students. However, at this point in time there have been no identified cases of swine flu in Mississippi. We at the MHSAA want to use common sense in approaching this issue. We will work closely with the Mississippi Department of Education and the Mississippi Department of Health to plan for any issue that might arise in our state,” MHSAA Executive Director Ennis Proctor said in a release.
