City man arrested in house burglary on Martha Street

A Vicksburg man held initially for misdemeanor crimes has been charged in a home burglary on Sunday.

Andre Gaines, 26, 2721 Alcorn Drive, was arrested at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday at 2422 Clay St., and an identity check found a warrant for the residential burglary reported Sunday, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.

Gaines is accused of taking an Estate electric stove valued at $299 from a home in the 1700 block of Martha Street, said Williams.

He was identified by witnesses as the burglar and the stove had not been recovered this morning, said Williams.

More arrests are possible, she said.

Gaines was in Issaquena County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

4-wheeler, tiller, trailer among missing items

Two thefts were reported in the city Monday and Tuesday.

A 2007 Polaris four-wheeler, no value given, was reported missing at 5:12 p.m. Monday from a garage on Oak Hill Drive.

Separately, a 5-by-8-foot 2007 Carr trailer with a Mississippi tag number PTLRQ9667H valued at $2,500 was reported missing at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday from a home in the 100 block of Beechwood Road.

A business burglary and a residential burglary were reported in the city Monday.

* Sears department store, 2480 S. Frontage Road, reported at 1:25 p.m. Monday a Craftsman Brushwacker, a weed trimmer and a tiller missing.

* A 42-inch Samsung flat-screen TV was reported missing at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday from an apartment at the Crossings Apartment complex, 2160 S. Frontage Road.
