Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Matthew Buckles of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Kendra Rebecca, to Thomas Patrick Watson. Mr. Watson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Dear of Brandon and Dr. and Mrs. James Watson of Madison.

Miss Buckles is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garveese Dillon and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Harrigill, all of Meadville, and the late Billy Buckles.

Mr. Watson is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Watson of Byram and Joseph Puckett of Puckett and the late Mildred Puckett.

The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Madison Central High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.

Miss Buckles is pursuing a Master of Arts degree in media and communication at Dallas Theological Seminary in Texas.

The prospective groom is a 2002 graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Mississippi.

Mr. Watson is a case clerk at Figari & Davenport L.L.P. in Dallas.

The couple will exchange vows June 6, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.
