Lottie B. Montague

Lottie B. Montague died Saturday, May 16, 2009, at her residence. She was 89.

Born in Bonita, La., Mrs. Montague had been a Vicksburg resident since 1940. She was the daughter of the late William Wesley Bayles and Mattie Albritton Bayles. She owned and operated Lottie’s Beauty Shop for 62 years prior to her retirement in 2002.

She was a longtime member of the Vicksburg Business and Professional Women’s Club; a member of the Women’s Bowling League for 43 years; and Vicksburg Senior Citizens Organization, where she was named Senior Citizen of the Month for October 2004.

Mrs. Montague was a member of Highland Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alton Montague Sr.; two sisters; four brothers; three nieces; and three nephews.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Montague and husband Farkad Alattar of Vicksburg; a son, Charles A. Montague Jr. and wife Nancy of Vicksburg; two grandchildren, Jeff and Megan; and one great-grandson, Leonidas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Clint Hollingsworth, Johnny Williams, Ray Burroughs, Ron Branan, Ben Randeman and Malcolm Cupit.

Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth McNeil, Alvonda McNeil, Alice Daniel, Susan Williams and Marleigh Grace Williams.
