Two wrecks in the city over the weekend sent three people to the hospital.

Just before 9 p.m. Friday, at Clay Street and Berryman Road, a 1995 Honda Civic driven by Francis Sargent, 55, 201 Berryman Road, collided head-on with a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Wanda Mason, 28, 1501 South St.

The wreck occurred as Sargent was headed west on Clay and turning onto Berryman, said Vicksburg Police Lt. Davey Barnette. Mason was eastbound on Clay and preparing to make a left turn.

Sargent and Mason were taken to River Region Medical Center, where there were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

At 4:33 p.m. Saturday, also on Clay Street, a 2000 Ford Windstar driven by Sara Foley, 17, 4223 N. Frontage Road, Apt. J-24, collided with a 1996 Ford Crown Victoria driven by David Thompson, 43, 607 Wallace Drive, Apt. 17, Edwards.

Foley was making a left turn from Clay onto North Frontage, opposite the Hampton Inn, Barnette said. A third car obstructed her view as Thompson’s vehicle was coming east on Clay Street, resulting in the wreck.

Thompson was taken to River Region and was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said. Foley refused treatment.
