City man charged with statutory rape

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for statutory rape.

Marvin James, 27, 1201 South St. Apt. 305, was arrested at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday at his home, said Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department.

James is accused of having sexual intercourse with a minor under the age of 16 after a report was filed on May 16, said Williams.

He was held on a $50,000 bond.

Port Gibson man jailed for bad checks

A Port Gibson man was in the Warren County Jail Tuesday for bad checks.

Cornelius Thornton, 55, 1153 Moore Road, was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday and charged with felony bad checks, jail records said.

He was released on a $2,500 recognizance bond.

Farmer Street man held for drug court

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning for a drug court sanction.

Shandrick Montgomery, 30, 1203 Farmer St., was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday and held without bond.

Compressor missing from Bunge plant

A business burglary was reported at 11:37 a.m. Tuesday from the Bunge Corporation on Levee Street.

A Dewalt 20-gallon air compressor valued at $500 was missing.

Computer, jewelry reported missing

Two residential burglaries were reported in the county Tuesday.

A navy blue Dell laptop computer valued at $1,387, a diamond necklace with three gold chains valued at $500, a diamond ring with a gold band valued at $350 and a silver-blade knife were reported missing at 5:34 p.m. from a home in the 100 block of Edgewater Drive.

Separately, an iron box containing about $800 in silver coins was reported missing at 1:15 p.m. from a home in the 2300 block of Boy Scout Road.
