City man jailed for sale of gun

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning, accused of selling a gun to an undercover police officer.

Jeffery Logan Luckett, 25, 110 Tower Drive, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Friday at 3330 Clay St., after he attempted to sell his handgun to a police officer during an undercover operation, said Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department.

Luckett was charged with possession of weapon by a felon and was being held without bond, said Stewart.

Luckett had been released on a $5,000 bond for possession of methamphetamine in early March.

City woman cut; another sought

A Vicksburg woman was treated and released from the hospital Saturday evening after being cut in the face with a box cutter by another woman.

Verlen Alexander, 40, 722 Main St., was taken to River Region Medical Center where she received 11 stitches for her cut, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Stewart gave the medical condition. River Region did not return calls.

Stewart said this morning police were looking for her attacker, whom the victim identified as Denise Love, 40, 713 Johnson St. Alexander said the two had fought at 1401 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., said Stewart.

Camera, computer among missing items

Three auto burglaries and a business burglary were reported in the city during the weekend.

• A Kenwood am/fm CD player valued at $550 was reported missing at 4:27 p.m. Saturday from a 2001 Ford F-150 at Riverwalk Casino Hotel, 1046 Warrenton Road.

• A Compaq laptop valued at $1,200 and a Kenwood navigation system valued at $900 were reported missing at 6:15 p.m. Saturday from a 2007 Ford Expedition at Ameristar Casino, 4146 Washington St.

• A Nikon digital camera valued at $239 and an MP3 player valued at $100 were reported missing at 10 p.m. Sunday from a 1997 GMC Yukon at Horizon Casino, 1310 Mulberry St.

• A 42-inch Hustler Sport lawn mower valued at $2,700 was reported missing at 4:06 a.m. Saturday from Magnolia Lawn and Tractor, 1029 U.S. 61 North.
