TYLERTOWN — Doris Mae Alford Smith died Thursday, June 4, 2009. She was 78.

Mrs. Smith was born March 11, 1931, in New Orleans.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin D. Alford Sr. and Willie Mae Brock Alford; her only brother A.D. Alford Jr.; and her daughter Amy Lynn.

Surviors include her husband of 62 years, Hugh M. Smith Jr.; two sons, Hugh M. Smith III of Tylertown and Rick Smith of Vicksburg; two daughters, Angie Foil of Centerville and Rebecca Stogner of Covington, La.; one sister, Linda Lou Alford Flack; eight grandchildren including Jordan and Jake Smith of Vicksburg; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; and her caretaker Mary Jane Holly.

A graveside service is scheduled for today at 2 p.m. at Rushing Cemetery in Tylertown.

Arrangements are being handled by Capps Funeral Home in Tylertown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
