The foam trailer taken to the drill by Ergon Refining was a new tool firefighters used for the first time. Foam is used to smother a hydrocarbon fire where water is used to cool nearby tanks to help prevent them from catching fire, said Billy Stribling, Ergon Refining environmental safety and security manager. “It was a practice drill that went really well,” said VFD Deputy Chief Mark Ettinger.
