Tickets are available for Mississippi’s Miss Hospitality Pageant, in its 60th year.

The pageant will feature 32 contestants in two nights of competition, at 8 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 1. Events will take place at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.

Tickets are $18 per night for premiere reserved seating and $13 for general reserved seating. Package tickets for two nights are $36 for premiere reserved seating and $26 for general reserved seating.  They can be purchased by visiting www.HattiesburgSaenger.com or calling 601-584-4888.

Choctaw Indian Fair kicks off July 8

The 60th Annual Mississippi Choctaw Indian Fair will be July 8-11 in Choctaw.

The four-day festival will feature the annual Choctaw Indian Princess Pageant, country music concerts, “Disney’s High School Musical: Summer Celebration!” activities, family night and Tribal arts, crafts, dances and foods.

Country music star Connie Smith will open at 7 p.m. July 9 for headliner Philadelphia native Marty Stuart, who will play at 8:30. Co-headliners will be Josh Gracin, an “American Idol” second season finalist; and Clay Walker. Both will perform July 10 at 7 and 8:30, respectively.

Tickets are $15 for adult season passes, $10 for adult day passes, $10 for student season passes, $5 for student day passes and free for ages 5 and younger.

Asian art exhibit reopens in Ala.

The Birmingham Museum of Art has reopened its Asian art galleries. The display opened today after being closed for two years for remodeling.

The galleries feature collections from ancient China and Japan.

Admission to the museum’s permanent collection is free and hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 Sundays.

Blues festival set July 11 in Duck Hill

The seventh annual Grassroots Blues Festival will be from noon to 10:15 p.m. July 11 in Duck Hill.

The festival, sponsored by Action Communication Education Reform, will feature local and regional artists.
