Vicksburg man jailed on warrants

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail this morning without bond for four charges.
Clifford Geter, 38, 301 N. Fairview Drive, was arrested at 2:34 p.m. Tuesday and charged with possession of methamphetamines, simple assault, a traffic violation and pseudophedrine purchase. Geter was taken into custody on Paxton Road after a traffic stop led to his arrest on outstanding warrants, Chief Deputy Jay McKenzie said.
City fugitive jailed in cutting of woman
A Vicksburg woman who had been wanted by city police since May 30 in the cutting of another woman in the face was arrested Tuesday and charged with receiving stolen property.
Denise Love, 40, 401 Pleasant Valley Drive, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. at Mattingly and Washington streets and charged with receiving a stolen vehicle, said Sgt. Sandra Williams of the Vicksburg Police Department.
Love was seen driving and then fleeing from a 2007 Pontiac G6 on April 23 that was reported missing earlier in the same day from the 2500 block of Drummond Street, said Williams.
Love was also the suspect in an aggravated assault reported May 30, in which she was seen fighting on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard with another woman who was taken to River Region Medical Center, said Williams.
Love was in the Warren County Jail this morning on a $50,000 bond for the aggravated assault charge and $25,000 bond for the stolen property charge, said Williams.
Byram woman jailed on fake-check charge
A Byram woman was in the Warren County Jail this morning for passing fake Travelers Cheques.
Wanda Latham George, 40, 350 Byram Drive Apt. 814, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Vicksburg Police Department and charged with uttering a forgery on March 23, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.
George is accused of cashing $500 in counterfeit travelers checks at Horizon Casino Hotel, 1310 Mulberry St., said Williams.
She was held without bond.
City man jailed in theft of truck
A Vicksburg man was arrested at his home for an auto theft that occurred June 20.
Omar Ingram, 31, 102 Tower Drive, was charged with possession of stolen property. A Nissan Titan was stolen June 20 on U.S. 61 South and recovered that same day, said Vicksburg Police Sgt. Sandra Williams.
Ingram was in the Issaquena County Jail on a $1,500 bond.
Jailed suspect faces new charge of rape
A Vicksburg man already in the Warren County Jail was charged with rape of a person younger than 16.
Christopher Jones, 26, 2805 E. Main St., was in jail after being arrested on March 16 for possession of counterfeit instruments, said Sgt. Sandra Williams.
A family member of a 14-year-old reported a rape Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
No bond was set, Williams said.
Speakers, CD player missing from vehicles
Two auto burglaries were reported Tuesday.
Two 12-inch speakers were reported missing from a 1994 Dodge Shadow in the 1200 block of China Street at 7:09 a.m.
A CD player, unknown make or value, was also reported missing from 1985 El Dorado Cadillac in the 1200 block of China Street at Fredella Village Apartments at 7:09 a.m.
Truck wreck ties up traffic on Mississippi 16
Mississippi 16 east of Rolling Fork reopened at 4 p.m. Tuesday following a tractor-trailer fire atop a bridge on the state highway.
Damage to a bridge railing forced the road to close for about three hours. Sharkey County Lindsey Adams said this morning the trailer fell off the bridge, but the driver was not injured.
