Kathryn Allen Simmons

Kathryn Allen  Simmons died Monday, July 6, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 80.

Mrs. Simmons was born in Brookhaven and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 60 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the ladies Sunday school class and served on numerous church committees.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Simmons Sr.; a sister, Marie Kimble; and two brothers, Emmit Allen and Charles Allen.

Survivors include seven sons, Cecil Simmons Jr. and wife Sheila, Kerry Simmons and wife Sharon, Mickey Simmons and wife Donna, Victor Simmons and wife Mary, Davey Simmons and wife Cindy, Gene Simmons and Joey Simmons and wife Betty, all of Vicksburg; and 15 grandchildren, Leslie Gordon, Beth Rosamond, Becky Hurst, Nathan Karel, Shelly Simmons, Erick Simmons, Andrew Simmons, Victoria Simmons, Jessica Hall, Dustin Simmons, Kyle Simmons, Bonnie Wigley , Heather McCardle, Joey Simmons and Nicole Gilmer; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 today with the Revs. Dwight Sibley and Macon Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Simmons, Erick Simmons, Dustin Simmons, Joey Simmons, Christian Gordon and Nathan Karel.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Dan Jones, Jamie Jones, Dr. Hildon Sessums, Dr. Lee Giffin, Frankie Kowen, Lenell Clanton, Ron Branan, Donnie Frith, David Downey, Travis Chambless, Mike Hoben, Steve Bennett, Harold Montgomery, Carrol Montgomery, Marion Haney, Pat Sumrall, Brian Ivey, Bill Hanks, Mike Brogdon, Randy Allen, Collins Allen, Reggie Allen, Lonnie Smith, Gene Ray Frith, Bess Childers, Tony Brogdon, Billy Goodson, Blake Clanton, Spencer Gordon, Earl Brewer and deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.
