Mr. Southall, Miss Barnes are wed May 30

Robert Michael Southall and Sally Elizabeth Barnes were married at 7 p.m. May 30, 2009, at Crawford Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. William Geoffrey Joyner officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. John Russell Barnes of Vicksburg and Nan Norwood Barnes of Tallulah. She is the granddaughter of Doris Lacy Barnes and the late Orrice Russell Barnes of Newellton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thurmon Jennings Norwood of St. Joseph, La.

The groom is the son of Nell Conerly Southall and the late Robert Michael Southall Sr. of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Clyde Conerly and the late Mr. and Mrs. Patton Southall, all of Vicksburg.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Flowers were placed in memory of the groom’s father and the couple’s deceased grandparents.

Musicians for the ceremony were Adam Arredondo, trumpeter; Darlene Davis, cellist; Jane Joseph, organist; Dr. Gerald Rankin, first violin; Ruth Anne Schnell, second violin; and Jill Norwood Short, soloist.

Maids of honor were Margaret Jennings Barnes of Austin, Texas, and Martha Claire Barnes of Oxford, sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Brigitte Elizabeth Barnes of Monroe; Lindsay Hand Burgess of Hattiesburg; Lauren Jabour Coulon of Brandon; Jennifer Lea Southall of Oxford; Rachel Jolly Jett and Elizabeth Pogue Malone, both of Memphis; Leigh Rector Lusk of Little Rock, Ark.; and Melissa Southall Broome, Megan Marie Cook and Gareth Gilliland Lampkin, all of Vicksburg.

Bobbie Lee Smithhart III of Vicksburg served as best man. Groomsmen were Oren DeVaughn Bailess III of Dallas, Texas; Jeffrey Coyt Davidson of Knoxville, Tenn.; Thad Everett Burgess and Nicholaus DeWayne King, both of Hattiesburg; Christopher Leroy Herron and Yancey Taylor Rowland, both of Canton; and Randall David Broome, John Chase Conerly, Colin Wilson Leach, Douglas Eugene Ott and Phillip William Vollor, all of Vicksburg.

Flower girl was Macy Ryan Broome, niece of the groom, of Vicksburg. Ring bearers were Robert Andrew Broome, nephew of the groom, and Riley Dean Lampkin, godson of the bride, both of Vicksburg.

Special wedding assistants were Rose Dykes and Marlene McLaurin.

A reception followed at the B’nai B’rith Literary Club. Guests were entertained with music by Bullet Proof of Hattiesburg.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Paradise Island, Bahamas. They will make their home in Hattiesburg.

The bride is employed at Wesley Medical Center, and the groom is employed by Farris Brothers Inc.

Brunch

The groom and his attendants were honored with a wedding-day brunch hosted by Elaine Morris, Cathy Newton and Lee Ann Whitley as the bride and her attendants spent the day at Cedar Grove.

Rehearsal dinner

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s mother entertained the wedding party and families with a rehearsal dinner at Toney’s Restaurant.

Announcement party

The couple was honored with an engagement party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Andrews. Shower

The couple was honored with a honey-do shower at the home of Bobby and Lorraine Smithhart. Co-hosts were B.J. and Krystal Smithhart, Colin and Sara Leach and Krisa and Taylor Rowland.

Weekend getaways

Bridesmaids treated the bride to a spa weekend in Hot Springs, Ark.

The groom and his groomsmen enjoyed a weekend in New Orleans.
