Evelyn Nell Dorrell

Evelyn Nell Dorrell died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 80.

Mrs. Dorrell was a native of Pearl River County and had lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She was retired from Mississippi Action for Progress and did private-duty care. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Yazoo City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Colin Lanz Dorrell Sr. in 1976.

Survivors include two sons, Colin Lanz Dorrell Jr. (Pam) of Vicksburg and Wallace Ricky Dorrell (Margie) of Yazoo City; one daughter, Nancy Dorrell Smith (Brent) of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her beloved canine pet, Cookie.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Cary Dorrell, Craig Dorrell, Kris Dorrell, David Dorrell, Brandon Smith and Trent Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lois Vinson, Faye McCullough, Sheryl Miller, Inez Holmes, Patsy Holden and V.O. Stevens.
