Tobacco products, beer taken from store on Second North

Twelve boxes of assorted tobacco products valued at about $500 and four 6-packs of beer valued at about $30 were reported stolen from a Vicksburg business today, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

The tobacco included cigarettes, cigars, snuff and chewing tobacco; the beer was Budweiser.

All was reported stolen from Second North Street Grocery, 1003 Second North St. at 6:03 a.m. Investigating officers said phone and electrical lines had been cut.

Household items missing on Starlight

A Luxor air conditioner compressor and a Luxor air handler, each valued at $3,500, an electric stove valued at $550 and a 50-gallon gas water heater valued at $300 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Starlight Drive Tuesday at 12:08 p.m., Police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

Vicksburg man held for sale of cocaine

A Vicksburg man was arrested at his home for the sale of cocaine Tuesday after an undercover police investigation, Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

Cairo Howard, 29, 2908 Green St., was held at the Vicksburg police station without bond pending a hearing.

Two in county jail for state officers

Two Vicksburg men were in the Warren County Jail today on hold for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Dustin Lawrence, 27, 301 N. Fairview St., was arrested for grand larceny at 3:17 p.m. and charged with contempt of court for Justice Court Tuesday.

Lawrence was being held on a $2,500 bond.

Separately, Freddie Rader, 43, 103 Cross Drive, was being held without bond for probation violation.

Electrical fire reported at construction firm

An electrical fire was reported at Riverside Construction Tuesday.

Employees had extinguished the fire in a back room breaker box of the 4111 Washington St. building before the Vicksburg Fire Department arrived, Fire Investigator Leslie Decareaux said.

Woman jumps from car, injured when trapped

A Vicksburg woman was injured late Tuesday morning when she was trapped beneath her car.

Darlene Carter, 46, 3384 N. Washington St., snagged a fender under her green 1979 Chevrolet El Camino and then tried to jump from the car as it rolled backward in a steep driveway at 1713 Bodley St., Vicksburg Patrolman Curtis Judge said.

Carter, who was alone, was treated at River Region Medical Center, Judge said. River Region did not return a call for condition report for Carter.

Two people injured in county wreck

Two people were injured in a one-car wreck on Oak Ridge and Henry roads at 9:56 a.m. Tuesday.

Randall Hulett, 35, 3855 U.S. 80 East, and Christian Hulett, 16 months, 875 Roy Young Road, were treated at River Region Medical Center.

River Region did not return a call for condition reports.
