Man, woman arrested after Sunday shooting

A Warren County woman was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling after a man inside was shot in the hand.

Lester Jackson, 24, 9710 Freetown Road, was shot in the right hand while he was inside a home at 320 Walton Lane. He was taken to River Region Medical Center, which did not return a call for a condition report.

Cassidy Carson, 21, 103 Walton Lane, remained in the Warren County Jail this morning in the shooting reported at 12:35 p.m. In addition, John Wash, 26, 1773 Martin Luther King Drive, was charged during the investigation with providing deputies with false information, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said. Wash was released on $2,000 bond.

Pace said a 9-millimeter handgun and .380-caliber handgun were found at the scene of the shooting.

He said ballistics tests and the Mississippi Crime Lab will determine which weapon was used.

City man jailed for robbery attempt

A Vicksburg man was arrested for attempted strong-arm robbery in the parking lot of a business Saturday at 3:07 a.m.

Eddie Miller, 48, 1507 Lane St., is accused of trying to take $50 out of a woman’s pocket near a business at 1209 Cherry St., Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Miller was in Issaquena County jail without bond on hold for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Man reports theft in city’s downtown

A man told Vicksburg police he was held at gunpoint and robbed of $101 in a parking lot near Crawford and Washington streets just after midnight this morning.

The victim said the suspect was about 5-foot-10-inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds. The report was filed at 12:49 a.m., said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

In addition, several items were reported stolen in the city over the weekend.

A silver 2005 Kia Spectra with license plate number WBB373 and valued at about $6,000 was reported stolen from the 1200 block of East Avenue at 10:51 a.m. Saturday.

A McCulloch 5,600-watt generator valued at $700 was reported stolen from a home in the 3300 block of Drummond Street at 5:42 p.m. Thursday.

A Pioneer CD/radio valued at $100 was reported stolen from a 1998 blue Ford Explorer in the 1500 block of Chambers Street at 7:41 a.m. Friday.

A Nokia cell phone was reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Walters Street at 7:57 a.m. Friday.

A golf logic range finder valued at $325 was reported stolen from a 2005 Saturn in the 200 block of Longview Drive at 2:44 p.m. Friday.

A Bryco Arms .380 handgun valued at $200 was reported missing from a 2001 Ford F-250 in the 1100 block of Fayette Street at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

Two golden retriever puppies valued at $200 each were reported stolen from the backyard of a home in the 1200 block of Howard Street at 8:22 p.m. Saturday.

A 5-inch JVC TV valued at $200 and a purse and contents valued at $125 were reported stolen from a 2000 Ford Expedition in a business parking lot at 2150 Iowa Blvd. at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

A yellow 1964 Chevrolet Impala with antique tag number 196206 was reported stolen from a business at 4326 U.S. 61 South at 11:05 p.m. Sunday.
