Leola Ruth Anderson Long

Services for Leola Ruth “Baby Sister” Anderson Long will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bright Morning Star M.B. Church with the Rev. Reginald Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.

Mrs. Long died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 75.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, she served as royal grand matron of the state of Mississippi for the Esther Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She was a school bus driver for 20 years. She served on the usher board at Bright Morning Star M.B. Church for 66 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Anderson Phelps and Julia Hood, both of Vicksburg; one son, Peter Anderson Jr. of Vicksburg; a sister, Rosie Lee Nash of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Willie Earl Jackson, Melvin Jackson, Nancy Jean Moore and members of the Anderson, Garrett and Hampton families.
