Irby, McCullar to wed in Satartia on Sept. 19

The engagement of Erin Jill Irby to Jason Lynn McCullar, both of Vicksburg, is announced today. The wedding will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 19, 2009, at Emmaus Retreat Center at No Mistake Plantation in Satartia. A reception will follow at the main house at the plantation. Attendance is by invitation only.

 Miss Irby is the daughter of Edward J. “Buddy” Irby Jr. and the late Carlleen Millis Irby of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Carl and Verniece R. Millis of Panama City, Fla., and Susie H. Irby and the late E.J. “Jack” Irby Sr. of Vicksburg.

Mr. McCullar is the son of Joseph Lynn and Naomi Miller McCullar of Guin, Ala. He is the grandson of Thomas Jefferson “T.J.” and Mavis Audine Bullen McCullar of Hamilton, Ala.; the late Mary Ella Phillips Miller of Guin; and Judson “Jud” Burnette and Sue Miller of Vernon, Ala.

The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of the Beta Club, Junior Historical Society, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Photography Club, Excalibur Science Honor Society and Spanish Club.

She graduated summa cum laude in 2003 from Mississippi College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design. She was named to the president’s list and was a member of Alpha Chi honor society, the yearbook staff and Kappa Pi honorary art fraternity.

Miss Irby is a graphic designer at The Print Shop.

The prospective groom graduated with an advanced diploma in 1998 from Hamilton High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, FCA, Gamma Omega Delta, Foreign Language Club and 4-H Club. He lettered in football and baseball.

He graduated cum laude in 2000 from Bevill State Community College, where he received an associate degree in drafting and design technologies. He was named to the president’s and dean’s lists, received the Drafting Award and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and VICA.

Mr. McCullar is a costing manager and draftsman for Cappaert Manufactured Housing.
