City woman held for shoplifting, forgery warrant issued in 2005

A Vicksburg woman was charged with seven counts of uttering forgery Monday after being booked for shoplifting Sunday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Umeka Rayshonda Moore, 32, 20C Kings Drive, is accused of passing seven counterfeit personal checks totaling $847.69 at Fred’s Dollar Store, 3427 Halls Ferry Road, Sept. 10-16, 2005.

Moore was arrested for shoplifting at the same store at 1:55 p.m. Sunday.

Stewart said a records check revealed warrants for the 2005 forgery charges.

Moore was being held on $14,000 bond at the Warren County Jail.

City man jailed for drug court

A Vicksburg man was in the Warren County Jail today on a drug court sanction, jail records showed.

Joseph Dickinson, 19, 301B N. Fairview Drive, was being held without bond.

Video games, purse among stolen items

Several items were reported stolen in the city Monday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A Fossil purse valued at $100 and its contents, an LG cell phone valued at $100 and $40 were reported stolen from a 2000 Buick Celebrity parked in the 3200 block of Plaza Drive at 9:18 a.m.

Two iPods and a docking station valued at $200 each, three Quantum fishing reels valued at $100, a Leatherman multitool valued at $100, a Gerber pocket knife valued at $100, a Buck hunting knife valued at $50 and assorted jewelry valued at $1,500 were reported stolen from a home in the 3400 block of Drummond Street at 11:17 a.m.

A 32-inch Sanyo TV valued at $400 and a 20-inch Emerson TV valued at $200 were reported stolen from a home in the 200 block of Demby Drive at 6:02 p.m.

A Wii video game console valued at $300, a Playstation 2 video game console valued at $200, a Nintendo DS video game console valued at $130 and three Nintendo DS video games valued at $80 were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Enchanted Drive at 10:58 p.m.

Truck, lawn equipment missing in county

In Warren County, a pickup and lawn equipment were reported missing Monday.

A silver 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup with license plate WA5271 was reported stolen from a home in the 17400 block of Mississippi 465 at 6:49 a.m. Monday.

An orange Husqvarna lawn tractor valued at $2,371, a Craftsman 21-inch big wheel mower valued at $150, a Craftsman 21-inch push mower valued at $100 and a Stihl weed trimmer valued at $325 were reported stolen from a shed in the 2100 block of Mississippi 3 at 6:04 p.m.

A 24-inch concrete pineapple valued at $75 was reported stolen from a home in the 1300 block of River Bend Cove at 7:24 p.m.

Two injured in wreck at Clay Street, Old 27

Two people were injured in a car wreck at 9:19 p.m. Sunday.

Augustine Matthews, 53, 123 Cumberland Road, and Jacquez Galloway, 6, 305 Hildegarde Terrace, were injured in an accident at Clay Street and Old Highway 27.

Both passengers were taken to River Region Medical Center.

River Region did not return calls for a condition report.

Man, teen charged in attack on Aug. 2

A Vicksburg man and a juvenile were charged Monday with a strong-arm robbery reported on Aug. 2.

Earnest Atkins, 18, was arrested at his home at 2934 Park Ave., and charged with strong-arm robbery and aggravated assault at Washington Street and Bowmar Avenue, said Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart.

In the same case, a 16-year-old male was sent to the Warren County Youth Detention Center after being charged with strong-arm robbery, Stewart said.

Atkins was being held on $50,000 bond at the Warren County Jail.
