Wynn Johnson

Wynn Johnson died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 53.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Johnson lived in Valley Park for a number of years. He was a graduate of Sharkey-Issaquena Academy in Rolling Fork. He attended Mississippi State University.

Mr. Johnson was employed at Johnson Farms for more than 30 years. He and his wife owned and operated Wynn Plantation in Valley Park for the past six years. He was active in the humane society.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gary L. “Doc” Johnson; a brother, Lance Johnson; and an aunt, Joyce Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry N. Johnson of Vicksburg; three daughters, Pamela Johnson, Wendy Johnson and Rachel Johnson, all of Vicksburg; his mother, Jeryl T. Johnson of Vicksburg; his mother-in-law, Anita Shelton of Gloster, Miss.; three grandchildren, Kaylee “Sweetie Pie” Johnson, Shelton “Bubbie” Cassell and Caleb Lane Johnson, all of Vicksburg; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; numerous nephews and nieces; and close family friend Rufus Barnett.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
