Blues star and Louisiana native Kenny Wayne Shepherd will perform Sept. 26 at Ameristar Casino.
The 7:30 p.m. concert will be in the Bottleneck Blues Bar. Tickets are $40-$50 and can be purchased at the casino gift shop or www.tickets.com.
Shepherd’s hits include “Blue on Black,” “Slow Ride” and “Somehow, Somewhere, Someway.” He has been nominated for four Grammys and has received two Billboard Music Awards and two Orville Gibson Awards. He is a Shreveport native.

Pest ID workshop offered by Extension
As part of its First Tuesday Gardening Series, the Warren County Extension Service will offer Pest Identification and Control.
The free session will be at noon Tuesday at the Extension office at 1100-C Grove St.
The speaker will be Donna Beliech, Extension area horticulture specialist.

Stripling photos to be displayed
The Jackson Audubon Society will host events in September.
One will feature the photos of a Vicksburg man.
Activities include:
• Family Bird Walk — 8 a.m. Saturday at LeFleur’s Bluff State Park in Jackson; entrance fee: $3 per vehicle; children younger than 15 must be accompanied by adult.
• Monthly Chapter Meeting — 6:30 p.m. Sept 22 at the Eudora Welty Library, 300 N. State St., Jackson; program: Birding in Costa Rica, featuring photos by Vicksburg’s Bill Stripling.
