Elsie L. Brewer died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Brewer was born in Mize, Miss., and had lived in Vicksburg for over 70 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and wife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Brewer after 67 years of marriage; her parents, Lona and Hezieh Ainsworth; and three sisters, Leona Grubbs, Mae Puckett and Mavis May.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Brewer and wife Rita of Amarillo, Texas, Curtis Brewer and wife Janice and Earl Brewer and wife Sandi, all of Vicksburg; three daughters, Donna Dean Moulder and Barbara McCaa, both of Vicksburg, and Lee Earl Chambless and husband Lawrence of Brandon; one brother, W.C. Ainsworth of Dublin, Texas; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. LaDon Dawson officiating. Glenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Greg Kurtz, Larry Brezzard, Danny Chambless, Mike Chambless, Junior Williams and Todd Hoben.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Hoben, Roy Hoben, Buddy Hampton, Larry Hampton and Dr. Tom Sligh.
