Funeral services for Janice G. Sturgis, 50, of Vicksburg will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, La. Jason Sturgis will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, 8729 Cypress St., West Monroe, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Janice was born June 8, 1959, and on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, she entered into her heavenly home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Randy Sturgis; son, Ethan Sturgis; uncle, Jerry Griggs Sr.; and grandfathers, Clarence Worthey and Byron “Dick” Griggs.

Left to cherish her life and memory are grandmothers, Louise Griggs and Marie Worthey; parents, Aubry and Patsy Griggs; sisters, Valerie Walker and Billie Cannon; brother, Tommy Griggs; daughters, Misti Chapman and Kristi Warren; sons, Jimmy “Bo” Harrell and Jason Sturgis; five grandchildren, Cassidy Walls, Zachary Hulett, Laney Vinson and Taylor and Austin Warren; six nieces; four great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Walker, Jerry Griggs Jr., Rick Worthey, Mike Chapman, Dick Worthey and Ray Chapman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Worthey and Tony Walls.

Visitation will be today, Sept. 3, 2009, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.
