SANTA ANA, Calif. — Dr. Joseph A. Perkins died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, in Santa Ana, Calif. He was 62.

A Vicksburg native, Dr. Perkins practiced as an obstetrician/gynecologist for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Iracilda Perkins; five children, Michelle Perkins, Erica Perkins, Blair Perkins, Morgan Perkins and Austin Perkins; a stepdaughter, Michele Prates; three brothers, Charles Perkins, Michael Warren and Rance Warren; two sisters, Patricia Perkins and Kathy Perkins; one stepbrother, William Warren; two stepsisters, Patricia Warren and Gwendolyn Warren; a grandson; and other relatives, friends and colleagues.

A memorial service was Monday at Brown Colonial Mortuary in Santa Ana. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cool Springs Baptist Church in Vicksburg under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service.
