Police seek help in finding suspect

A Vicksburg teen is wanted by police for the sale of cocaine, police investigator Jeff Merritt said.

Investigators served a warrant at 153 Elizabeth Circle Thursday for Jermarcus Curry, 17, whose last known address was 213 Moonmist Drive. Merritt said he expected Curry to be at the Elizabeth Circle address, but he was not there when police arrived.

Vicksburg police are urging anyone with information on Curry’s location to contact headquarters at 601-636-2511.

Driver reports robbery at downtown stop sign

A man told police he was stopped at a stop sign when two men, one with a knife, approached his vehicle and stole $200 from him.

“The victim stated he was approached by two black males. One produced a knife and demanded money,” police Lt. Bobby Stewart said. The victim said he was in his vehicle at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Mulberry and Clay streets.

One of the two was described as wearing a brown sweater, brown pants and a ski mask and the other as wearing a red shirt, black pants and a ski mask, Stewart said.

The suspects fled east on Clay Street in an old brown van, said the victim who was not injured, Stewart said.

Lawn furniture missing on Cherry

Lawn furniture and a CD player were among items reported stolen in Vicksburg, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

A round iron table, two iron benches, a concrete duck, two sage palm trees and an antique concrete sundial with a total value of $3,500 were reported missing from a home in the 2100 block of Cherry Street at 11:30 a.m. Monday.

A Sony Explode CD player valued at $250 was reported stolen from a Mitsubishi Mirage in the 4000 block of Interstate 20 West at 1:37 this morning.

Edwards man jailed for drug possession

An Edwards man was in the Warren County Jail today for possession of a controlled substance and disregard for a traffic device, records showed.

Hayden Paul Hales, 20, 1625 McKaylan Drive, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Baker and Ben Bolia streets after running a stoplight on Mission 66 in Vicksburg, Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Trooper Wayne Smith said.

“We noticed him throw a bag out of the window that contained prescription drugs,” Smith said. “Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics was contacted.”

Hales was being held without bond pending an initial hearing.
