The engagement of Shonta Sweet to Reginald Wheatley Jr., both of Arlington, Texas, is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 4 p.m. Oct. 17, 2009, in Vicksburg. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Miss Sweet is the daughter of Tina Sweet of Shreveport and Issac Williams of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Mary Lee Smith and Ruthie Williams of Vicksburg.

Mr. Wheatley is the son of Pamela Johnson of Dallas and Reginald Wheatley Sr. of Kingwood, Texas. He is the grandson of Robert and Williemae Johnson and the late Robert and Savannah Wheatley, all of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Southwood High School in Shreveport, where she was a member of the Science Club.

The prospective groom is a 2002 graduate of Vicksburg High School. He attended Hinds Community College and Paul Quinn College.
