The Vicksburg Art Association will present a fabric painting and rusting workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the VAA’s headquarters, the Constitution Firehouse at Main and Openwood streets.
Jackson art instructor Rhonda Blasingame will teach students rusting techniques. Examples of her work are on display downtown, at the Attic Gallery on Washington Street.
Cost is $40 per person and includes supplies.

Edwards artist’s works displayed
The Mississippi Library Commission is presenting a free art exhibit featuring works by artists Christopher Brady and Phyllis Tackitt.
The works will be on display through Oct. 30 at the Mississippi Education and Research Center, 3881 Eastwood Drive, Jackson. An opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1.
Brady is an art instructor at East Central Community College in Decatur. He has a bachelor’s degree in art from Mississippi College and a master’s in art and fine arts from the University of Mississippi. He will present People, Places and Things.
Tackitt is a glass artist who opened Southern Fired and Pottery Glass in 2006 in Edwards after experimenting with glass, clay, color and design. She will show her collection of glass art.

Vicksburg chefs to aid in fundraiser
The March of Dimes’ 12th annual Signature Chefs Auction will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Jackson Convention Complex, 105 E. Pascagoula St.
WLBT anchor Maggie Wade and radio DJ Scott Steele will host the event, which will feature food by area chefs, including those from Vicksburg’s Riverwalk Casino and River Region Medical Center.
