Vollor, Whitaker are wed Aug. 15 in Florida

Matthew Doyle Vollor and Holly Stafford Whitaker were married at 3 p.m. Aug. 15, 2009, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. The Rev. John Vollor, uncle of the groom, officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Murray Pinkston Whitaker of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Lena Maupin Ray of Albany, Ga., and the late Edgar Perry Maupin and Frank Gideon Whitaker and the late Betty Jean Pinkston Whitaker, all of Vicksburg.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gallagher Vollor of Vicksburg. He is the grandson of Dr. Phillip Leo Pennartz and the late Joan Katherine Bollar Pennartz of Marietta, Ga., and Valera Meacham Vollor and the late William Joseph Vollor of Vicksburg.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen colors were ivory and ice-blue.
Nuptial music for the ceremony was provided by Ester Tiedemann, violin; Winona Butler, violin; Rose Docy, cello; Matt Markel, trumpet; and Adele Armitage, piano, all of Santa Rosa Beach.
Maid of honor was Ellen Maupin Whitaker, sister of the bride, of Vicksburg. Matron of honor was Leslie Horn Vollor of Vicksburg. Honorary attendants were Theresa Erin Vollor of Birmingham, Ala., Valera Joann Vollor of Washington, D.C., and Sophia Katherine Vollor of Vicksburg, all sisters of the groom.
The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsman was Philip William Vollor, brother of the groom, of Vicksburg.
Ushers were Caleb Seay Cage of Reno, Nev.; David Matthew Hunter of St. Louis, Mo.; Daniel Joseph Presutti of Pooler, Ga.; and Joshua Salem of Fayetteville, N.C.
Flower girls were Ericka Diane Stephanian and Katherine Elizabeth Stephanian, cousins of the bride, of Rowlett, Texas. Ring bearer was Matthew Agabito Meloni of Fayetteville.
Scripture readers were Edgar Rigby Maupin of Alexandria, La., and Timothy Wayne Vollor of Auburn, Ala., uncles of the bride and groom.
The bride’s cousins, Chelsea Beth Brock and Logan Cheyenne Brock of Rowlett, served as program attendants.
Special wedding assistants were Mary Ruth Jones of Vicksburg and Ellen O’Connell of Santa Rosa Beach.
A reception followed at the bride’s parents’ home in Seaside, Fla.
The couple will make their home in Fayetteville. The bride is a graduate student at Savannah College of Art & Design, and the groom is a captain in the U.S. Army.
Lunch
On the day of the ceremony, members of the wedding party were treated to box lunches by Donna Cowart, Virginia Campbell, Debbie Lewis and Kelly Andrews.
Shrimp boil
The groom’s parents hosted a low-country shrimp boil at Seaside Motor Court on the eve of the wedding. Co-hostess was Barbara Biedenharn.
Bridesmaids’ luncheon
Susan Harper, Kerrie Stephanian, Corliss Maupin and Carol Horn, aunts and cousins of the bride, hosted a bridesmaids’ luncheon in Seaside. Assisting in hostessing was the bride’s great-aunt, Mrs. Dan O’Neal.
Open house
The wedding weekend began with early-bird cocktails and an open house at the Whitaker home.
Shower
Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Stewart hosted a linen shower at their home in Madison. Co-hostesses were Anna Federick, Kelly Haden, Julie Holliday, Alicia Humble, Courtney Simmons, Lauren Taylor and Christina White.
