The body of Vinson, who lived in Port Gibson, was found near U.S. 61 South by family members along a dark stretch of the highway on the night of Sept. 23, 2008.

Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol officials said at the scene the teen had argued with his mother while they were driving and he had gotten out of the vehicle. The family later returned to look for him and made the discovery.

Jail records showed Sanders was arrested at Falco Chemical. A company official at the firm’s corporate office confirmed Sanders as a longtime employee.

A spokesman for the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation could not be reached.

Vinson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident of head and body trauma. Investigating officers had gathered glass shards and other debris from the scene, but could not say initially the make or model of the vehicle that struck Vinson.
